Attorney Rawsi Williams, Esq., R.N., is a Florida-based civil rights attorney, registered nurse, and United States Army veteran. She is among the few licensed in both law and nursing, focusing her career on protecting the constitutional and civil rights of individuals. Her practice includes federal, state, and administrative cases involving civil

rights, education, employment, healthcare, and government accountability. She gained national recognition after securing a unanimous $2 million jury verdict in a federal excessive force case, the highest pure police brutality verdict in that court system. She also became one of only four attorneys in forty years to defeat the Florida High School Athletic Association on behalf of a student-athlete.

Rawsi is one of five children, with four daughters and one son in the family. Her brother’s incarceration profoundly influenced her decision to attend law school, inspiring her to fight for those mistreated by unjust systems. Later, he became a victim of police brutality in Texas, where officers tased him multiple times inside an ambulance after he suffered a seizure. A Judge ruled there was no probable cause for his arrest after being dragged from the ambulance, and she helped secure legal representation for him in Texas, leading to a federal lawsuit against the officers.

Before becoming an attorney, she served in the United States Army and began her career in healthcare as a nurse. She attended Tuskegee University, where she became the first female Ranger in the school’s Army ROTC history, and later earned her Juris Doctor from Florida A&M University College of Law. She also completed specialized military training in medical records and continues to hold numerous certifications, while frequently serving as a keynote speaker and lecturer.

Rawsi is licensed in all Florida state courts and several federal jurisdictions, including the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Florida, with additional admissions pro hac vice in Texas and Georgia. She has successfully represented clients against major corporations, school districts, and local governments, with her work featured on national media platforms.

Dedicated to service, she has volunteered for over a decade with the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office, maintaining an undefeated record while representing indigent clients pro bono. Through her leadership roles and advocacy, Rawsi Williams remains committed to advancing justice and protecting civil rights.
