Quentin Geczy, based in London, attended Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. After completing his studies there, he attended the University of Sydney Medical School for two years. He is now looking to finish his studies closer to home in Europe while exploring an entrepreneurial path in consulting and finance, focusing on healthcare.
While
continuing his medical school application process, he remains involved in health and education through research and tutoring. He operates a successful private education business, where he helps students in STEM subjects and university admissions. Additionally, he is developing an online company that offers educational courses and materials for various UK high school exams (GCSEs, A-Levels), medical exams (BMAT, UCAT, GAMSAT, MCAT), and the SAT.
After graduating from high school in Australia, Quentin moved to the United States in 2016 to pursue his passions in science and economics. He earned his Bachelor’s in Molecular Cellular Development Biology (MCDB) and Economics at Yale University. He focused on macro and microeconomics, finance, and accounting during his studies. He gained proficiency in large datasets using R and applied theoretical models to solve complex problems. These subjects helped sharpen his analytical skills and gave him a deep understanding of human behavior and decision-making under uncertainty.
Geczy's MCDB studies extended his pre-med courses, culminating in a thesis titled “Psychedelic Renaissance in Psychiatry,” where he examined the role of the 5-HT2A receptor and its interaction with serotonergic psychedelics in promoting neuroplasticity. This research has been part of the growing body of work influencing mental health treatments for conditions such as depression, anxiety, addiction, and PTSD.
Both of these fields—Economics and MCDB—gave Quentin a unique, multidisciplinary education that equipped him well for the evolving landscape of modern medicine. The combination of evidence-based reasoning, public health knowledge, and communication skills to explain complex concepts has been invaluable throughout his career.
Geczy was also a standout athlete at Yale. He was a Division I Varsity Athlete, Lightweight Crew Eastern Sprints Champion, and placed second at the USA U23 Lightweight Men’s Quad National Team Selection Regatta. He successfully balanced the demands of athletics and academics, a challenge that taught him discipline, resilience, teamwork, and leadership.
Geczy's interest in medicine began at a young age. After suffering a fractured femur in a cycling accident at thirteen, he experienced firsthand the impact of orthopedic care. Over the next decade, he faced further health challenges, including a serious cycling accident that left him with a subdural hematoma, cervical spine fractures, and dental injuries. Although this accident ended his athletic career, it deepened his admiration for healthcare professionals and their ability to facilitate recovery.
After graduating from Yale, Quentin attended the University of Sydney Medical School, where he focused on Orthopedic Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and General Surgery. While there, he completed all course requirements and his MD thesis on the “Demographic and Clinical Features of Patients Diagnosed with Achalasia.” His clinical rotations covered various specialties, including Psychiatry & Addiction Medicine, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, and General Practice. His hands-on experiences in different medical fields laid a strong foundation for his future career.
Quentin also contributed as a volunteer researcher at Sydney Musculoskeletal Health, where he co-authored two published articles on osteoarthritis treatment. He has gained clinical experience at several institutions, including Dr. Keith Bush's private clinic in London, the Royal Melbourne Hospital, and Diakonissenkrankenhaus in Germany.
For five years, he has run a private tutoring and education consultancy. He helps students excel in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics, including preparing gifted students for the Biology & Chemistry Olympiads. He also guides student-athletes through the complex recruiting process for US Division I colleges. Within six months of launching his business, Geczy had 30 clients, with whom he continued to engage until their successful university admissions.
He has British, American, and German citizenship and is fluent in French, German, and English. Outside his professional pursuits, he enjoys staying fit through activities like cycling, running, swimming, and skiing. Quentin Geczy's diverse interests and accomplishments reflect his commitment to learning, teaching, and positively impacting education, healthcare, and beyond.
