Michael Durst obtained his doctorate at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg for his work on 'Value-oriented Management in IT Architectures'. During the time he spent working in management consultancy, he worked as a project and program manager at various Fortune 500 companies in the fields of innovation management, (IT) strategy,
enterprise architecture and Enterprise 2.0. He carried out projects to add value to IT systems, to improve competitiveness and to increase productivity on behalf of a number of clients from the automotive, utilities, electronics, finance, fashion, FMCG and plastics industries.
Between 2007 and 2009, Prof. Durst headed up the department for research and innovations, part of the global IT division at adidas AG. There, he was responsible for driving forward, amongst other things, Enterprise 2.0, virtual product development, technology management and multimedia in the retail sector. Today, he is professor of business information systems at the FOM Hochschule für Oekonomie und Management in Nuremberg and chief executive of ITONICS GmbH.
