Pranav Mistry is an Indian computer scientist and inventor. He is the Global Vice President of Research at Samsung Research America. Prior to that, he was employed as the vice president of Samsung Electronics; a research assistant and PhD candidate at MIT Media Lab; a visiting researcher at Japan Science and Technology Agency; a researcher at
Microsoft Research, NASA, and Carnegie Mellon University; the Director of India Incubation Team at Microsoft; and a research assistant at Indian Institute of Technology.
Mistry is best known for his work on SixthSense, Samsung Galaxy Gear, and Project Beyond. His research interests include wearable computing, augmented reality, ubiquitous computing, gestural interaction, machine vision, collective intelligence, and robotics.
Mistry obtained a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from Gujarat University. He also holds a master’s degree and PhD in media arts and sciences from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is fluent in Hindi and English.
