Philippe Cochet is the Independant Director of Samsung C&T Corporation. Philippe started his career in 1986 as a consultant in the field of advanced production techniques in the automotive industry. From 1988 to 1994, he held various positions inside Thomson Multimedia, in particular as manager of the Villingen plant in Germany, then with the
European low and medium voltage components division. In 1994, he joined General Electric as Vice-President Operations for General Electric Medical Systems Europe (GEMS). In 1998, Philippe Cochet was appointed Vice-President GEMS for Eastern Europe, based in Budapest. In 1999, he was appointed at the Executive Committee of GEMS as Vice-President for the X-Ray activity at worldwide level. In 2003, he joined Hager as Executive Vice-President Operations, and was a member of the Executive Committee. In April 2006, Philippe Cochet was appointed President of Alstom Hydro Holding, and Senior Vice-President of Alstom Hydro & Wind. Chairman of the HEA (Hydro Equipment Association) between 2008 and 2011, association gathering the main hydroelectric equipment manufacturers, he was also member of the Board of the IHA (International Hydropower Association) and of the French SER (Renewable Energies Association). On July 4th 2011, Philippe was appointed President of Alstom Thermal Power and Executive Vice-President of Alstom, which he led until closing of the deal with GE on November 2nd 2015. This new sector includes power generation activities in Gas, Steam and Nuclear, as well as Service and Power Automation and Controls activities, with a workforce of more than 36,000 people, and close to €9 billion sales. Philippe is a Graduate of CESTI (University Post-Graduate Center of Industrial Technique).
