Phil Petti is the Chief Intellectual Property Counsel for the USG Corporation, one of the world leaders in building systems for residential and commercial construction.
Phil joined USG in 2008, and is responsible for all of USG’s intellectual property portfolio development, management, licensing and litigation, worldwide, including the
protection of USG’s well known SHEETROCK® brand building products.
Phil also is responsible for USG’s intellectual property interests in USG Boral, a joint venture extending from Australia and New Zealand through South East Asia, China, India and the Middle East.Phil was in private practice for 23 years, and was a senior partner of the intellectual property law firm Fitch, Even, Tabin & Flannery in Chicago.
Phil was one of Fitch, Even’s lead trial lawyers and, also devoted substantial time to client counseling, patent prosecution and strategy. Outside of work, Phil served on the Board of Directors of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, is a member of AIPLA’s Amicus Committee, and is a frequent speaker on intellectual property issues.
Phil also is an adjunct professor for the Center for Intellectual Property Law and Chinese IP Law Center at the John Marshall Law School in Chicago.
