Phil has a first degree in physics and a doctorate in nuclear physics from St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford. Phil’s early career was in e-learning development, support and strategy, at Cardiff University, University of Hull and King’s College, London. Phil then moved into information services and IT senior management, at Aberystwyth, Plymouth
and Loughborough Universities, with fifteen years’ experience at that level.
Phil took up his role as Chief Innovation Officer at Jisc in November 2013, with responsibility for identifying and shaping opportunities for new, digitally-enabled ways of working in the UK higher education, further education and skills sectors.
