Peter Maslen is an international businessman with a global career spanning large multinational corporations in education, retail and fast-moving consumer goods. He is the former CEO and current board member of Singapore-based Knowledge Universe Education, one of the world’s largest private education companies – with over 300,000 students in its
institutions and 30,000 professionals on staff.
Prior to joining Knowledge Universe, he was president of Starbucks Coffee, where he led Starbucks' growth globally from its initial start-up phase to a highly successful and well-established business in over 30 countries. Prior to joining Starbucks, Mr. Maslen served as president of Tricon Global Restaurants (now YUM! Brands) in Europe, with responsibility for the development and growth of its retail food businesses, including such well known brands as Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Taco Bell throughout Western and Central Europe and former Soviet block countries. He began his career in the food industry with Mars Incorporated, then the world’s largest private industrial company, culminating as region director, Asia, from where he was recruited to PepsiCo.
Mr. Maslen is founder and chairman of The HansonMaslen Group in Seattle. He has served on the boards of several public and private companies in the US, Japan and other countries, and is the former chair of the Global Business Advisory Board at the University of Washington Business School and was a member of the Advisory Board of the Albers School of Business and Economics at Seattle University. A native of Australia, he grew up in the outback, studied in Perth, now lives in Singapore, has a son and a daughter, both in business.
