As Senior Solutions Architect, Peter Macdonald leads a team that designs and develops mission-critical cloud-based technologies which power Global Relay next-generation services — including Global Authentication Services and Service Manager. Peter has over 30 years’ experience in the software industry serving in senior roles ranging from lead
architect to executive-level technical and product management.
Peter has worked on a variety of remarkable and complex projects throughout his career. He is a true ‘rocket scientist': while at McDonald Dettweiler & Associates (MDA), he led the development of a real-time satellite control system for the Canadian Space Agency’s RADARSAT-1 program. He also holds a patent for full resolution stereoscopic display, which arose out of his investigation of the feasibility of digital photogrammetric workstations.
For Mercury Scheduling, Peter developed Magellan — a real-time airline crew scheduling product to which many worldwide airlines entrusted their entire business.
At Realm Dynamics, Peter’s team developed a multi-tenanted cloud-computing platform for J2EE Enterprise Applications in the SMB market.
Peter has a B.Sc. in Physics from Queens University, a M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from McMaster University and a M.Sc. in Computer Science from Simon Fraser University.
