Bex’s research combines behavioral research methods to study visual perception in people with blinding eye diseases, including age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma and amblyopia. His research develops sensitive methods to detect, diagnose and monitor visual impairment. Early detection and diagnosis are essential to ensure the most effective
treatment outcomes while accurate monitoring can evaluate alternative and novel therapies more efficiently. When vision cannot be saved, his lab develops procedures and devices that can be used to maximize residual vision and therapeutic approaches to promote rehabilitation.
Bex has a Ph.D. in Psychology from Cardiff University in the UK, a Post-Doc in Ophthalmology from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and a Post-Doc in Vision Science from Rochester University in New York State.
