Person Details


Peter fell in love with startups after spending 10 years as an early employee at EMC, where he experienced firsthand how the right product, business model and innovation can kill a market incumbent. Ever since, he’s been solely working as or with entrepreneurs – he lives for the ambiguity of writing vs. executing a business playbook, and his role as a venture capitalist allows him to work alongside the brightest minds in technology.

Peter focuses on companies in the information security, e-commerce, cloud infrastructure, mobile, enterprise software and communications industries. In his role as a sounding board to entrepreneurs, Peter helps prioritize growth objectives, build teams and create product-market fit. He likes to focus on go-to-market strategies that ensure category leadership.

At Highland, Peter is directly involved with Bromium, ClearSky Data, iddiction, INXPO, Leap Motion, LevelUp, Nebula, NetentSec, Qumulo, RethinkDB, Violin Memory, VMTurbo and WePay. He is also a former board member of Desktone (acquired by VMware), Gigamon (NYSE: GIMO), Ocarina Networks (acquired by Dell), RentJuice (acquired by Zillow) and Virtual Computer (acquired by Citrix).

Previously, Peter founded Stowe Capital, where as Managing Director, he helped emerging growth companies secure financing and find their place in the market.

Prior to that, Peter co-founded StorageNetworks, where as CEO, he took the company from concept to $120 million in annual revenue inside of three years. By the time StorageNetworks went public, Peter had closed six rounds of financing totaling over $700 million.

He holds a B.S. in Accounting from Boston College; an MBA from Harvard Business School and an Honorary Doctorate from Babson College.
