Dr. Patrick Atkins has over 35 years of experience in environmental management, sustainability, building and alternative energy sectors. Before joining Pegasus, Dr. Atkins served as the Director of Environmental Stewardship at Alcoa until 2005.

He then became Director of Energy Innovation at Alcoa where he was responsible for identifying

and supporting implementation of solutions for waste heat recovery in smelting, refining and casting and was accountable for the assessment of alternate energy sources (e.g. renewables) and their applicability across the Alcoa businesses. Dr. Atkins is the author of over 50 technical articles and is the editor of two books concerning his areas of expertise. He also teaches part time at Carnegie Mellon University and in the University of Pittsburgh Katz School of Business focusing on sustainability and business.

Dr. Atkins is a member of the Energy Task Force for the Sustainability Roundtable of the National Academy of Sciences and is a member of the Academy’s Advisory Council to the US Army Corps of Engineers. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Electric Power Research Institute ((EPRI) and is a member of the Technical Advisory Council for AECOM Environmental, Inc.
