Otto has almost 20 years' experience as a corporate lawyer, about half of which have been as senior in-house counsel at Solvay. He started his career at Linklaters in 1996, including three years as a solicitor at its London office, and then moved to Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in 2001.
Otto joined Solvay in 2006 where he partnered with
senior management on mergers and acquisitions (M&A); corporate governance; antitrust; finance and general commercial matters. Since 2012 Otto has been in charge of legal M&A matters for the Solvay Group.
Otto holds a law degree awarded by the Free University of Brussels and an MA in International Relations awarded by the Johns Hopkins University. He is also a member of the Council of the Belgian Institute of Company Lawyers.
