Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1964, Oscar Navas moved to San Diego at the age of 18 to pursue his artistic interest at the San Diego Academy of Fine Arts. He began his career at a local magazine where he worked as an illustrator. Wining some sketching contest propelled Oscar Navas into the fine art industry, and lead to his first official
exhibition that was featured at the Charlotte Art Gallery. His career has focused on abstract painting, but he is also well-known for his watercolors and colorful mosaics. His repertoire includes sketches, oil and watercolor paintings of abstract scenes, rural landscapes and historic architecture. Oscar Navas likes to paint and sketch on the spot, and loves to take photographs in order to capture detail once he gets back to the studio.
