Ofir specializes in environmental biotechnology. He is the inventor and the owner of the small bioreactor platform (SBP) technology for water treatment. Since 2008, he has focused on the research and development of this innovative technology which utilizes the power of microorganisms for the benefit of humanity. This technology provides a reduced
environmental footprint in comparison to other water conservation and treatment technologies.
He brings broad experience in conducting laboratory trials and field pilot tests (beta-site trials) in wastewater treatment, and has very practical knowledge of technology development starting from theoretical concepts to commercial product development. Ofir founded and manages his company, Bio-Castle, which is aimed at commercializing the applications of the SBP technology.
Ofir received his Ph.D. in Biotechnology and Food Engineering (2008), and his M.Sc. in Medical Science (2002) from the Technion- Israel Institute of Technology. He holds a B.Sc. in Life Sciences (1996) from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel.
