Nima Tolou focuses on design of high-performance micro/meso compliant mechanisms for MEMS and motion-driven energy harvesters with strong orientation towards industry. He received his PhD in 2012 from the department of Biomechanical Engineering at Delft University of Technology. Since then, he was an Intra-European Fellow at the Optical and
Semiconductor Group, Imperial College London, and works currently as Assistant Professor at the Department of Precision and Microsystems Engineering at Delft University of Technology. His research has led to several research papers and a number of patents and patent applications as well as national and international awards. Among others, he was listed among the top six inventors for the Delft Innovation Award 2011 and received a prestigious FP7-IEF personal grant on Energy Harvesters from the European Commission. Since 2010, Nima has been co-organizing international workshops in Montreal, Delft, Chicago, Berlin, and Vienna, and international symposia including CoMe2012 at Delft and Compliant Mechanisms Fast Forward and Interactive Session in Buffalo, NY and Boston, MA. Nima has been representing Delft University of Technology at MEMS and precision engineering exhibitions. He is a member of the technical committee of MEMS and Nanotechnology of the IEEE IES and serves as the Executive Editor of the journal Mechanical Sciences.
