Nikolai serves as President of Fierbrooke Communities, a non-profit real estate development organization whose mission is to create affordable housing and net-carbon building developments—a practice wherein the amount of carbon emitted is offset by the amount of carbon removed or avoided. Fierbrooke Communities aims to address homelessness and
revitalize the urban core of Sherbrooke, Quebec by repurposing abandoned properties and building new ones.
Nikolai is also the Managing Shareholder of Fierbrooke Collective, a group of accredited high-net-worth impact investors. The Collective focuses on funding real estate projects that hold the promise of a triple bottom-line impact—social, environmental, and financial—so far holding over CAD $75 million worth of properties.
Outside of his roles with Fierbrooke, Nikolai is the founder and president of MREX College, a Quebec-based firm specializing in high quality multifamily real estate investment education accessible to the everyday investor, as well as technological innovation. With extensive experience in financial engineering for apartment investing, Nikolai champions a strategy of perpetual 'buy and hold' real estate investments, impact investing and conscious capitalism..
In the past, Nikolai Ray’s career has included founding and leading Ray Harvey & Associates, which would grow to be one of the premiere multifamily real estate investment advisory firms in Quebec. He also previously served as CEO at Ray Human Performance, where he specialized in athlete training and performance research, and Synergy Institute, a company that specialized in performance enhancement and health, focusing on the development of models for improving human performance.
Nikolai has a notable connection to the Olympics through his work with the Synergy Institute, where he pioneered biomechanical evaluations for Olympic athletes. His discoveries and contributions have been applied to athletes competing in three separate Winter Olympic Games: Turin in 2006, Vancouver in 2010, and Sochi in 2014.
He also has a substantial background in the world of hockey, having played the game professionally and semi-professionally between 2004 and 2006 before shifting to his entrepreneurial pursuits. In fact, the second company he created was VSM Hockey, an agency that oversaw the development, management, and representation of over 70 pro hockey players and prospects.
Throughout his career as a real estate practitioner, Nikolai Ray has underwritten and/or transactions over CAD $1 billion in multifamily real estate transactions. He is a sought-after educator, advisor, and speaker in asset management and investment strategy.
