Nigel is the chairman of PRS for Music & European President of Peer Music.
He began his career in music publishing at Chappell Music in 1975 before moving on to EMI Music Publishing a year later.
During the following twelve years Nigel worked across various departments from finance to management, radio promotion and A&R and in 1982 he was
given a new role of launching EMI’s New Business Development Division which established the first dedicated TV, Film and Advertising Synch’ Licencing department in UK publishing.
In 1989 Nigel was offered the opportunity to head up MCA Music’s synch’ licensing team and having been approached by Lucian Grainge he later launched a similar department for Polygram Music.
In 1991 Nigel was asked by Ralph Peer owner and CEO of Peermusic to become European President and continues in this role today.
Nigel has or continues to serve on many industry boards including:
• MPA Board • PRS Board • PRS Chairman • MCPS Board and ex Chair of MCPS • Director UK Music 2006-2010 • Director of IMPEL 2011-2017 • Director of ICE Operations • Founding Trustee of the PRS Foundation • Fellow of the RSA
