Based in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Nell Parker is a public relations professional with more than 12 years of experience across agency and corporate communications. Before settling in Mecklenburg County, Nell Parker was a student at the University of Georgia studying public relations/marketing. She held leadership roles in her
sorority and the public relations student society, and graduated in 1986.
Ms. Parker began her career at Cohn & Wolfe, working on major accounts such as The Coca-Cola Company and the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. She later moved to Epley Associates before launching her own firm, McMullen-Parker Public Relations, where she served as vice president.
As a PR agency owner, Ms. Parker secured key clients, including The Home Depot. She supported The Home Depot’s expansion into North Carolina. This success led to a role at The Home Depot as public relations manager, where she managed media relations and grand opening events. She served as company spokesperson and wrote speeches for the company’s president. She later joined Transamerica Life Company, leading marketing communications efforts, executive presentations, and employee engagement initiatives.
Outside of work, Ms. Parker was active in community service, supporting youth and education initiatives. She served on the board of directors of Johnston YMCA and the public relations committee of Charlotte Youth Ballet. She was also on the guidance and hospitality committee of Myers Park High School and parent advisory board of the Alexander Graham Middle School. Her hobbies include gardening, reading, traveling, and sharing guidance with families on early childhood development and college preparation.
