Dr Naser Bustami is a Board Director and Chief Executive Officer of Stevin Rock, RAK Rock and Raknor. Combined, the companies have a yearly turnover in excess of US$ 500 million and a workforce of nearly 4,000 employees. Dr Bustami has 33 years of experience in technical and commercial management of numerous multi-billion-dollar projects in the
region. Dr Bustami holds a BSc in civil engineering from Bradley University (US), an MBA from Leicester University (UK), and a Doctor of Business Administration from Sydney Business School (Australia).
Stevin Rock was founded in 1975 and began operating in Ras Al Khaimah three years later, providing high quality materials and services to the construction, cement, steel, mining, glass, and chemical industries in the GCC region and beyond. In 1996, the company was purchased by the Government of Ras Al Khaimah and in 2007, Dr Naser Bustami led the takeover of RAK Rock by Stevin Rock, helping to grow it into one of the largest quarrying companies in the world. Stevin Rock has been involved in all of Dubai’s megaprojects, including Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali, The World Islands, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Metro, Dubai Mall, Dubai International Airport expansion, JBR projects, Dubai Festival City, and Jebel Ali Container Terminal, amongst others.
At the moment Stevin Rock is involved in projects such as Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC): Subsea High Voltage Direct Current Power Transmission Lightning Project, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company Logistics and Services (ADNOC L&S): Marine construction of an artificial island “G” for the Lower Zakum offshore field Al Omairah project and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC): Hail and Ghasha sour gas development.
Looking outward, Stevin Rock under the leadership of Dr Naser Bustami is planning to increase its marketshare in limestone supply to India and Bangladesh, and subsequently to re-enter the Qatar market. Qatar is a key target, and Stevin Rock is in discussions with the Qatar authorities to build a state-of-the-art Construction and Demolition Recycling Plant to enhance its commitment to sustainability and carbon emission reduction.
