Mohit’s passion for hardware and engineering was inspired by Formula 1. He joined IIT Bombay to study Civil Engineering with a Masters in Structural Engineering but along the way also discovered writing, and led the on-campus newspaper and media teams.
Since graduating, Mohit has worked at PwC, Aspect Ratio and Tork Motorcycles. In 2015, during a
career break he began experimenting with building “cooking machines” at home. These fragile, DIY machines that were meant to perfect the ideal cup of tea, led him to join Chaayos as the head of Engineering.
During his nearly 5 year tenure at Chaayos, he led the product development and finally the distribution of Chaayos’ IoT-enabled tea machine, Chai Monk. Building India’s first automated tea machine gave Mohit insight into the many facets of the food industry, while also giving him a crash course in how consumers perceive food and their relationship with food tech.
The key takeaway - that technology isn't built to make humans replaceable - but well designed technology enables and improves human experiences, led to the creation of React Labs.
Mohit heads the product teams, including the creation and curation of recipes on the R1. He leads the hardware function and user experience and is working on improving the relationship between end users and technology. He has been training for triathlons and continues to play sports in his spare time.
