Mitchell Rubenstein was a Founder of the SyFy Channel (with Laurie Silvers), a cable TV network that was acquired from them by USA Network and is now owned by NBC Universal. SyFy Channel is one of the highest rated cable TV networks. Mitch also was a Co-Founder of MovieTickets.com and is Co-Chair of its Board of Directors.
He and Laurie are the
principal owners of Hollywood.com, a leading pop culture website, and Baseline StudioSystem which licenses its movie and TV database to the movie studios and several leading Internet properties including Yahoo! and MSN. In addition, Mitch and Laurie own various cable TV and broadcast properties.
Mitch received a J.D. degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and a Masters in Tax Law (LL.M.) from New York University School of Law. He is a past Chairman of the Board of Jewish Life at Duke University which includes the Freeman Center at Duke and the Rubenstein and Silvers Hillel at Duke. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Norton Museum in West Palm Beach (where he is a Vice-Chair) as well as a member of the Board of Directors of MorseLife, Inc. (where he is Chairman of Morse Geriatrics), a non-profit senior living center in Palm Beach County with over 1,000 employees.
