MIKUS KINS’ BACKGROUND
In his youth, Francis W. Parker private school played a massive role in Mikus Kins’ development. A fervent passion within him for volunteerism was born in that school. He learned the art of confidence and courage, while in attendance, discovering all of the causes he finds near and dear to his heart to this day. Francis W. Parker private school was not just for any student, willing to learn, it was for those who showed true potential to be an active citizen in this world, entrenching themselves in academics, politics, finances, and public service. This lead to none other than Brown University after graduation. After his acceptance, Kins was elated to begin the adventure of a lifetime.
Because of his Latvian heritage, Kins studied abroad in Latvia during his collegiate years. Kins decided during that time to become a dual citizen of the United States and Latvia. He had a knack for participating in two different things at the same time, because Kins’ also dual-marjoed in International Relations and History. He was the king of multitasking, participating in not only the two different programs academically, but also various business organizations and the sport, crew, to round out his education.
If one is explaining the passionate life of Mikus Kins, one cannot forget to speak to the history of his dear undergraduate university, Brown. In 1764, Brown University of Providence, Rhode Island, was established, giving it the seat of the seventh oldest university in the United States. With approximately seventy undergraduate, twenty-five plus graduate, and fifty plus doctoral degree programs, the school makes its over 700 professors proud to teach its roughly 13.5 thousand students. As it is known to be a school, hosting thorough research opportunities for students, Brown University not only teaches the most up to date information on each subject, but it also provides students with the opportunity to learn that which is in the making right here and now for the future.
After completing his collegiate programs of study, Kins returned to the United States from Latvia and accepted various executive recruit roles before ultimately obtaining his Masters in Business Administration from Ohio State University in the Fisher College of Business. This MBA served him extremely well, fine-tuning his financial, investment management, real estate, and international business skills.
His first full-time job experience was with LaSalle Bank in Chicago. After striving and succeeding time and time again in this career, he eventually accepted an offer to work in London, overseeing the Global Securities Solutions Division at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. This was a massive step up from his previous position, as he managed around 250 employees in administrative services for both securitized and non-securitized products, such as CLOs, CDOs, and Commercial and Residential Mortgage, Back Securities, and over $60 billion dollars in Total Return Swap portfolios.
Mikus Kins was so successful in his professional positions for various reasons. He utilized a consultative sales approach, while dealing with clients. He enacted high quality customer service measures to make sure clients were satisfied, which provided the foundation for the many strong relationships he built with developers, various private sector industries, financial institutions, and investors. Kins dabbled in marketing efforts, as well as sales efforts. He identified target markets to reach out to and developed strategic sales plans that did anything but hinder successful product launches under his lead. Kins also was proficient with sourcing and cold calling new “C-Level” prospects. He took on as many roles as was necessary for him to complete these numerous high-level tasks. Kins understood the value of delegation, however, partnering with global entities and coworkers to meet the considerations of numerous multifaceted contracts with higher level clientele.
During 2010, Mikus Kins left the international finance industry and returned back to the United States where he worked on various projects prior to joining RealtyMetrix. RMX Property is a research, consulting, commercial and residential real estate brokerage firm that provides comprehensive quantitative and qualitative market research utilizing proprietary technology. The firm is focused on providing the most timely and accurate data so that clients can make better decisions on property sales, acquisitions and leasing. RMX Property utilizes Big Data technology for conducting sophisticated quantitative analysis that was first developed for the hedge fund industry and is now applied to the commercial real estate market.
At RealtyMetrix, Mikus Kins assumed the role as Executive Vice President where he is responsible for helping his company achieve its financial goals and objectives and overall operating performances. Much of this entails attending budget meetings, creating business plans, and solving internal issues as they arise. With an already strong background in finance and management, he believed this was fantastic opportunity to showcase his leadership and financial knowledge beyond his already proliferated work experience. As an Executive Vice President, he tends to have a broad array of responsibilities ranging from communication with the board of directors to overall strategic planning for business development. While the job description and company maybe new to him, the challenge to excel and succeed will always be forever ingrained into his work ethics. For Mikus, he loves to go back to a quote coined by Henry David Thoreau where, "Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it." When things get hectic, he loves to reflect on that quote because he already understands that the firm foundation for his own personal and professional success will always be fostered by his ability and drive to always move forward.
