Michele E. Lieber is the SVP of Global Head of Government Affairs at FactSet and was named chief public policy officer of Ally Financial in March 2011 and is based in Washington, D.C. In this role, she oversees the company’s federal and state government relations strategies, manages congressional inquiries and works with key trade associations and
coalitions.
Since joining Ally in August 2005 as vice president of government relations, Lieber has played an important role in the evolution of the company, overseeing all of Ally’s government relations activities and public policy issues, as well as ensuring their integration within the company’s business operations.
Prior to joining Ally, Lieber was the director of legislative and regulatory affairs, financial services for General Motors Corporation (GM) in its Washington, D.C. government relations office. In that position she was primarily responsible for policy issues related to GMAC and GM asset management.
Before joining GM in 2003, Lieber was the assistant director of federal affairs for Zurich Financial Services Group, a diversified financial services corporation. Prior to that, she served as an attorney and director of legislative affairs for Federated Investors Inc., a mutual fund company headquartered in Pittsburgh, with responsibility for policy development and advocacy in Washington, D.C., fifty states and select global markets.
Lieber has served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University School of Business and also served as a member of the Interview Board for Service Academy Nominations for the late Senator Frank Lautenberg and on the Board for Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey. In 2015, she was named to the 100 Leading Women list issued by Automotive News, which recognizes leaders in the automotive field.
Lieber earned a bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University and a juris doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh.
