Michael Watts is vice president and general manager for diagnostics at Hologic | Gen-Probe. In his current role, Mr. Watts oversees Hologic’s product franchises in transplant diagnostics, respiratory infectious diseases, prostate oncology, pharmaceutical services and agricultural biotechnology.
He joined Gen-Probe in November of 2003 as senior
director of investor relations and corporate communications, was promoted to vice president in 2009 after assuming responsibility for several other staff functions, and began managing the company’s acquired businesses in 2011.
Before joining Gen-Probe, Mr. Watts was director of investor relations and corporate communications at Ligand, and director of strategy for Baxter BioScience. He also spent seven years at Merck in a variety of corporate communications, marketing support, public affairs and sales roles.
He holds an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA and a BS from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
