Michael Succow is the Founder of the Michael Succow Foundation. He began writing down his natural observations when he was 13 years old. He has now finished twelve diaries that testify to the former biodiversity in the cultural landscape. During his adolescence, he forged a close friendship with the Kretschmanns of Bad Freienwalde, pioneers of
Eastern German nature protection. Michael Succow studied biology at the University of Greifswald from 1960 to 1965, according to his interests. During the "Prague Spring," he had to give up his post as a scientific assistant and "prove himself in production." He worked as a site explorer for the "VEB Meliorationskombinat Bad Freienwalde" from 1969 to 1973, with the purpose of developing new agricultural intensification sites.
