Michael Quantrell is a highly experienced Captain with over 20 years in yacht engineering, estate management, and competitive racing. His career has involved overseeing multimillion-dollar refits and managing deliveries along the East Coast. He is known for his steady leadership and ability to handle challenging conditions, including navigating
through Category 4 Hurricane Irma in Florida in 2017.
His passion for the water began at a young age while growing up in Camden, Maine, where he spent much of his time sailing or skiing competitively. As a youth, Michael earned three medals at the Junior Olympics, including a bronze and a silver in the Laser Class Division. His sailing career expanded internationally, racing professionally in programs across New Zealand, New England, and England. In high school, he excelled in skiing and continued competing for a decade in Friday night lights skiing events in Maine. While living in Florida, he achieved notable success in the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge, winning all three qualifiers in the series, along with several smaller competitions.
He began his professional journey as a yacht Captain at the age of 18, managing vessels ranging from 20 to 120 feet and captaining yachts up to 112 feet, most recently a 100-foot vessel. His responsibilities have included extensive yacht refits, turning ships into high-quality, fully operational assets. Quantrell has transported yachts from Mexico to various U.S. destinations, including Florida, the Bahamas, and the East Coast. For nearly five years, he has owned and operated Ox Eye Marine Corporation, overseeing multiple yachts between 40 and 112 feet along the Eastern Seaboard, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean. The company manages all aspects of vessel care, including project management, crew placement, refits, overseas shipping, sales, and participation in boat shows.
His professional history includes captaining a 96’ Broward for 18 months, where he led a $300k refit, managed crew, oversaw navigation, and ensured compliance. Michael also served as Captain and Project Manager for a 90’ Offshore, leading a multimillion-dollar refinance and refit that brought the vessel to peak condition. In addition, he has acted as Delivery Captain for a 112’ Westport, managed estates in Palm Beach alongside yacht operations, and worked on several other vessels, including a 59’ Herreshoff, where he managed racing operations.
Outside of work, he enjoys time on the water, caring for his dogs, and being with family. Michael Quantrell continues to approach every project with dedication, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence.
