Mike Pisa is a fellow at the Center for Global Development where his research focuses on how technological innovation can support economic growth and aid effectiveness. Prior to joining CGD, Mike spent eight years at the U.S. Treasury Department working in a number of different roles, including advising the Under Secretary of International Affairs
on issues relating to financial inclusion and serving as the Deputy Director of the Office of International Banking. As Acting Financial Attaché in Afghanistan from 2009 to 2011, Mike worked with the Afghan government to help strengthen its capacity to conduct public financial management and financial sector supervision. He has a PhD in political science from the University of California, San Diego.
