Michael P. Howell, a Managing Partner of Caymus Equity, has over 30 years of investing, senior executive, and financial experience focused on the lower middle market. Mr. Howell has spent most of his career starting, acquiring, operating, growing, and successfully exiting a variety of lower middle market businesses. Mr. Howell’s expertise includes
developing and executing strategic plans, building infrastructure, attracting senior executives, and leading companies to achieve their growth plans.
Mr. Howell joined Caymus Equity Partners in March 2012. Given his deep lower middle market operating and investing experience, Mr. Howell brings a unique skill set to Caymus Equity Partners. Mr. Howell’s extensive operating and financial experience is instrumental in assisting the executive management teams of Caymus Equity Partners’ portfolio companies navigate critical decisions to achieve their growth goals. Mr. Howell is active in deal generation and transaction consummation.
In 2001, Mr. Howell was the founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of ReachOut Healthcare America (“RHA”), a provider of mobile dental services to schools, nursing homes, and military installations. As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of RHA, Mr. Howell developed, led, and executed its strategic plan of providing critical dental services to a variety of patients in need. RHA rapidly became one of the largest providers of pediatric dental services in the nation under Mr. Howell’s leadership. By November 2007, Mr. Howell and his team completed a majority recapitalization with Sentinel Capital Partners. Mr. Howell remained as the Chief Executive Officer, and was responsible for the continued rapid growth of the company over the next three years, with expansion into the military and nursing home sectors. From 2007 through 2010, Mr. Howell led the organic growth of RHA and executed the successful acquisition and subsequent integration of RHA’s two largest competitors. In December 2010, RHA was successfully sold to Morgan Stanley Capital Partners, and Mr. Howell continues as Vice Chairman. Today, RHA provides mobile dental services in 9,000 schools, nursing homes, and military installations in 31 states.
Prior to ReachOut Healthcare America, Mr. Howell owned and operated a variety of companies in the automotive sector, with a focus on retailing, manufacturing, importing, and wholesale distribution of cars and automotive parts in Michigan, New York, and California. In addition, he was a member of the founding team and board of directors of American Dental Laser (“ADL”). ADL developed, manufactured, and distributed the first laser used in dentistry and Mr. Howell was responsible for the development of a two-tier distribution network in 31 countries. Mr. Howell began his career in the audit department of Deloitte Touche.
