Mike O'Kane Senior is the technical advisor at Okane Consultants. He is the president of O’Kane Consultants with offices in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the USA who develop conceptual and detailed
closure plans for mine waste storage facilities worldwide.
Mr. O’Kane’s particular area of expertise is the design, implementation, and performance monitoring of cover systems for mine waste under a wide variety of climate conditions. A focus of his work is on the application of unsaturated zone hydrology and surface-atmosphere interaction for management of tailings and waste rock, as well as spent heap leach piles. Recent and current projects are located in Argentina, Chile, Peru, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Sweden, Tanzania, South Africa, Canada, and the USA.
