Michael is a Senior Managing Director of State Street Global Advisors and is the Chief Investment Officer of Alternatives. In this role, Michael and his team are focused on building out the firm’s liquid alternative capabilities, including its existing Global Macro capabilities, and expanding our alternative investment offerings. He is a member of
the firm’s Executive Management Group.
Previously, Michael led SSGA’s Global Macro and Active Emerging Markets teams, where he frequently engaged with clients and consultants to share macro investment views and themes, trading strategies and performance results.
A seasoned investment professional with over 20 years of experience in absolute return, global macro, global equity, global fixed-income and currency investing, Michael previously served as chief investment officer for Mellon Capital Management. In this capacity, he was responsible for over $220 billion of assets under management across all equities, fixed-income, global tactical asset allocation and alternative investments, and had oversight of investment management, trading and research. Michael has extensive experience in both alternative and traditional long-only investments from alpha research and strategy design to portfolio management and implementation.
Prior to joining Mellon Capital as CIO, Michael was the Founder and CIO of Kevian Capital Management, a macro-driven hedge fund. Before that, he was the CIO at Marcuard Family Office.
