Michael Hoffman is the data scientist at the United States Department of Defense. Hoffman joined The Toro Company in 1977 and spent several years in service, sales, and marketing roles for the commercial and residential businesses. Hoffman has held a number of top executive positions, including vice president and general manager of both the
commercial and residential businesses. He also played an instrumental role in developing the strategic direction of the landscape contractor and international businesses. He was appointed group vice president, residential and landscape contractor businesses in 2001 and group vice president, residential, Exmark, landscape contractor and international businesses in 2002. He was elected president in October 2004.
Hoffman earned a bachelor's degree in marketing management from the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and an MBA from the University of Minnesota – Carlson School of Management. He serves on the boards of Donaldson Company, Inc., the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute, the University of Minnesota – Carlson School of Management, the OPEI Foundation and The Toro Foundation.
