Michael Carstens is a Vice President, Life, Health and Preened Products at Physicians Mutual Insurance Company in Omaha, Nebraska. Spending much of his career as a pricing actuary, Michael's current responsibilities include design, development and management of hospitalization, dental and Medicare Supplement insurance products including
extensive work with distribution areas promoting these products with agents and direct marketing methods.
Michael is a current Member of the American Lung Association, Upper Midwest Region Board of Directors. As a volunteer for over ten years, Michael has served in various capacities including Asthma Walk Team Captain, Board Member of American Lung Association Nebraska (which through a number of mergers eventually became part of American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest), local Leadership Board Member, Chairman of the Board for American Lung Association of the Central States FY 2009-2010 and Board Development Committee Chairman for that organization. As part of his work, Michael is also a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and is a Member of that organization's Medicare Steering Committee.
Michael earned his B.S. degree in Mathematics and Actuarial Science from University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1995.
