Having spent 16 years in the ICT (Information Communications Technology) space, Michael Bate brings considerable energy, experience, and expertise to DGS. While working for telecommunications and technology firms, Michael’s experience has been outwardly focused on partners, building corporate value through relationship building and introducing new
products and services, both domestically and internationally.
Michael’s first position out of graduate school was with Sprint in the International Carrier Relations group. He used his native fluency in Spanish and MBA training to help Sprint manage its international interconnects, understand its international cost of service and expand its product portfolio throughout the Americas region.
The next position with Globalstar, a global mobile satellite service provider, allowed Michael to continue building his international contact base with global carriers and help Globalstar expand its footprint through on-boarding of franchise service partners, and the judicious usage of a multi- million dollar promotions budget.
Michael continued his career in international business development at WorldCell, a wireless managed services provider and holder of several U.S. Government contracts, including the $114M DITCO-E contract managed through DISA. Michael gained valuable contracting experience dealing with government contract officers, wireless vendors (Vodafone, DoCoMo and Zain) and technology partners in helping to launch and manage the complex DITCO-E contract which covered 26 countries and provided government liable, mission-critical communication to thousands of DoD personnel. Michael’s public sector experience continued at Knowlogy Corporation, a B2B Technology and Critical Skills Training Company with a primary focus on Microsoft and Cisco technologies.
At Knowlogy, he managed a staff of enterprise sales and bid writers seeking Government contracts on a local, state and Federal level. In his position, Michael interacted with an internal IT consulting group whose primary focus was serving Fortune 500 and US Government customers with software and communications services.
Michael was also responsible for selecting, writing and managing large U.S. Government contracts, such as the $55M Army AE-ITT (IT and Information Assurance) contract, which helps the Army in Europe maintain its leadership position in the cyber-security realm through professional training and vendor certifications. Michael’s contacts range from National Wireless carriers such as AT&T and Verizon, to International Carriers, to network security companies and Defense Contractors.
