Having served earlier as a strategy consultant at Bain & Company, Mr. Wellman brings unique business insights and strategic perspective to each engagement. He combines this with seasoned assessment skills to find candidates who truly make a competitive impact for his Clients. Mr. Wellman enjoys tackling the critical, “tough” search assignment, and prefers to work with clients where a beneficial long-term relationship can be built through extraordinary results and service.

Prior to joining Diversified Search, Mr. Wellman founded and served as Senior Managing Partner of his own firm, Jefferson Partners. Before that, he spent eight years as a senior Partner with Korn/Ferry International, where he was a Board Director, Managing Partner – Northeast Region & New York, and President of Global Specialty Practices. He was also Chief Talent Officer for Comstellar Technologies Inc., a venture capital investor in advanced technologies. Prior to entering executive search, Mr. Wellman worked for Bain & Company, Chemical Bank, N.A., and Wellman, Inc. (NYSE).

Mr. Wellman was born in Boston, Massachusetts, raised in South Carolina, and graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Commerce and an MBA. He speaks often to industry groups, including serving as a featured presenter at the Forbes CEO and Forbes CFO annual conferences, and the Hunt-Scanlon Human Capital conferences. He has also presented to the Harvard Business School Club of New York, The Wharton Business Club of New York, and to various chapters of the Financial Executives Institute (FEI). Mr. Wellman resides in Darien, Connecticut with his wife, Lynn, and their three sons, Michael, Benjamin and Zachary.
