Mel McGee is everything but a slacker. She’s a high-tech guru, a serial entrepreneur, and a Gestalt-trained facilitator who knows how to communicate with her team and lead them based on their strengths. Her 17 years in development raise the level on what most expect from software engineers. She’s a highly sought after public speaker and educator
(shhh .. don’t tell anyone; she has a soft spot for her causes and rarely says “no”).
She’s been featured in industry publications, including Howard Rheingold’s book Smart Mobs, Curt Harler’s Beyond the Browser, and she’s been known to build a wearable computer or two from scratch. Her augmented reality expertise started at roughly the same time the words “augmented reality” came to fruition.
Winning team member of COSE’s 2002 Venture Quest, multiple development awards, and a many bets over beer, one would think that her success comes easily, but Mel knows that it takes hard work, learning, adapting, and experimentation to get where you want to go. She doesn’t give up. She thinks of every day as a new opportunity and seizes each one to its fullest extent.
She’s married, has a daughter who keeps her on her toes, and three dogs who follow her everywhere they possibly can.
