Maurice Roy completed his medical degree at l’Université de Montréal in 1985 and his residency in family medicine in Verdun in 1987.
In 1988, after working one year in Chisasibi (James Bay), Quebec, he moved to Manitoba. Maurice Roy went into family practice, providing hospital care, obstetrics, emergency coverage and surgical assistance.
Maurice Roy has held numerous positions including President of the Conseil des Médecins Dentistes et Pharmaciens of Chisasibi Hospital, Chief of Staff at Ste. Anne Hospital, President of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba in 2003-04, and President of Doctors Manitoba in 2013-14.
Maurice Roy teaches medical students from the University of Manitoba, the University of Ottawa as well as family medicine residents.
