Matt Johnson is a venture capitalist and angel investor with a passion for backing exceptional entrepreneurs and building the Southeast's startup ecosystem. He is the founder and Managing Partner of Johnson Venture Partners (JVP), an Atlanta-based micro VC focused on seed and early-stage startups. At JVP, Matt oversees deal sourcing, due
diligence, portfolio support, and fund operations—having invested in more than 50 startups over 15+ years in early-stage venture. Matt is a member of Atlanta Technology Angels and VentureSouth, serves on the Venture Atlanta selection committee, and is a board member and advisor to multiple high-growth companies. He is also a Founding Partner of Fund That Tiger, an early-stage venture fund investing in Clemson University alumni-led startups. Matt holds a BA and MBA from Clemson University, where he has also served as a Lecturer in Entrepreneurship.
