Dr. Segar is a cardiac electrophysiology fellow at the Texas Heart Institute where he also completed his cardiology fellowship. He graduated from Internal Medicine residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center and received his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He also graduated with a degree in computer science with
Honors from Bucknell University and a Masters of Science in Bioinformatics from Indiana University.
His current research focuses on using machine learning and artificial intelligence to improve risk prediction and tailor medical therapies to identify and treat cardiovascular disease. As the developer of the validated WATCH-DM Risk Score and other clinical prediction tools, he helps bridge the gap between data science and clinical cardiology to create practical solutions that improve patient care.
Beyond his clinical and research work, he is the founder and CEO of ReCODE Medical, a comprehensive revenue cycle management solution for medical procedures. He also serves as the Chief Genetics Officer for descendantsDNA.
