Matt is the national leader of the Financial Services practice and the office managing partner of the North Carolina office with over 24 years of experience. Matt has a strong track record of providing effective finance and accounting solutions to his clients and is considered an expert in the financial services industry. Prior to joining CFGI,
Matt worked for Deloitte, served as Director of Internal Control at MassMutual Financial Group, and Director of Financial Reporting and Accounting Policy at Sun Life Financial.
Matt brings valuable experience having served as the CFO of a national public insurance company on an interim basis. He has also served in various critical roles where he was the interim VP of External Reporting and assisted with a variety of merger and acquisition initiatives, as well as the interim VP of FP&A, overseeing a large public company’s budgeting and forecasting processes. Matt’s technical accounting experience includes the adoption of Accounting for Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL), the Insurance long-duration contract targeted improvement standard (ASU 2018-12 or LDTI), and various International Financial Reporting Standards, including IFRS 9 & 17. Additionally, while at CFGI, Matt has assisted companies through the S-1 process, financing transactions, earnings per share, and warrants along with various other technical accounting topics. Matt also has experience leading Internal Audit functions, and internal control related implementation and remediation efforts in numerous industries.
Matt is a Certified Public Accountant in Massachusetts and holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Western New England University.
