An experienced executive and corporate leader, Mathias has in-depth knowledge of sales, corporate development and production with leading organisations such as Sime Darby, Continental AG and Linde AG.
Prior to his assignment at Apollo Tyres, he worked for nine years in Malaysia, mainly for Sime Darby, a diversified multinational. He was appointed Managing Director for its BMW operations. Later, he was responsible for other brands including Land Rover, Ford and Mazda. The operations ranged from import and assembly, through wholesale and retail as well as service, providing an in-depth view of the value chain for the automotive industry.
Mathias, along with his Malaysian partners, was also engaged in renewable energy and biomass projects as a shareholder and director. After finishing his secondary school and completing his military service as an officer of the German paratroopers, Mathias, who holds a degree in economics, was educated in Germany (University of Witten/Herdecke) and the US (MIT).
Mathias has a keen interest in music, and he likes playing piano and saxophone. Additionally, he is interested in sports and motorcycling.
