Professor Mason Peck has held a faculty position in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University since 2004. His research focuses on, among other topics: spacecraft systems, attitude dynamics, control, navigation, and robotic systems. For two years, Mason served as NASA’s Chief Technologist, and prior to his time at
Cornell he spent a decade working with Honeywell and Boeing. He has authored over ninety academic articles and holds seventeen patents. Mason holds a Ph.D and MS in Aerospace Engineering from UCLA, an MA in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago, and a BS in Aerospace Engineering and BA in English from the University of Texas, Austin. Mason’s extensive experience with satellite and spacecraft navigation, controls, and dynamics are essential to developing the C-1′s gyro stability system.
