Marty Nothstein, a celebrated cycling luminary, was born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and widely acclaimed as the greatest track cyclist in American history. He commenced his cycling expedition by enrolling in the Community Programs at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center (previously known as the Lehigh Valley Velodrome) and speedily

showcased the efficacy of the developmental programs. Nothstein's enviable accomplishments include over 35 US National Championships, three World Championships, four Pan Am Games Gold Medals, an Olympic Silver Medal, and a coveted Olympic Gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. With over 150 professional victories, Nothstein's unflagging ardor, exceptional tenacity, and unique flair set him apart.

A beacon of inspiration for the locals, Nothstein's unwavering dedication to Lehigh County has elevated him to a hero's status. He never left his hometown for training, and his "Rocky Balboa"-esque training in the Lehigh Valley attested to the availability of every resource required for Olympic success. Nothstein embodies the pinnacle of excellence achieved by Lehigh County, the Velodrome, and its Community Cycling Programs. Following his retirement from professional cycling in 2006, Nothstein took over as executive director of the Valley Preferred Cycling Center and transformed it by expanding the community and professional cycling programs and boosting revenue.

Apart from being a sportsman, Nothstein is an avid conservationist. He has safeguarded over 500 acres of land from development, creating better habitats for wildlife. He also chaired the Lehigh County Farmland Preservation Board and played a pivotal role in preserving over 23,000 acres of farmland in his community. Nothstein continues to give back to the outdoors and is presently the director of development for Ducks Unlimited Mid-Atlantic Region.
