Markku is Co-Founder and CEO of the Finnish startup Fourdeg. Fourdeg is a smart heating company – winner of Arctic15 pitching competition. Fourdeg makes indoor temperature more accurate and comfortable and at the same time reduces the need of heating energy by 10-30%. The load balancing features reduce the peak loads of a district heating network.
Technically Fourdeg is an IoT and big data cloud software company. Previous to Fourdeg Markku had an epic 20-year career with consumer business and telecom networks business. After graduating from University of Oulu, Finland, Markku’s career started with analog IC design. The long stint with telecoms started in the early 1990s with transmission products.
Then after some years of R&D Markku started to manage programs which climaxed in managing the system programs for global success of Nokia GSM base stations. Markku lead Nokia 2G/3G mobile transmission business for five years 2000-2004 and continued to run global business development programs for mobile data solutions.
Final phase with Nokia was the fashion and lifestyle making Nokia consumer business development programs with entertainment products until 2012. Markku has done business in all continents excluding the Antarktis. Markku’s comfort zone is to create business from ideas with lead customers and collaborators. And then deliver the promise. Now the passion and mission is to create a sizeable cleantech business.
