Mark Woods leads the Autonomy and Robotics group at SCISYS UK with a particular focus on applications in both space and terrestrial remote exploration. He has been the autonomy technical lead for several European Space Agency, EC, UK and commercially funded projects focusing on a range of topics including, Long-range Autonomous Navigation, Vision
Based Localization, AI based planning and scheduling and Autonomous Science. This has included work on both ESA’s ExoMars and Sample Fetch Rover definition studies. He has led several field trial activities which have sought to validate long-range autonomy and remote operations concepts for Mars missions in locations such as the Atacama Desert in Northern Chile.
