With over two decades in the hedge fund and private equity sectors, Varacchi held senior roles such as CEO, COO, and CCO at various firms, including Sentinel Growth Fund Management. He also had experience with prominent institutions like Tiger Management and Diamondback Capital Management. His expertise encompassed trading, risk management,
compliance, and operations across global markets.
In 2017, Varacchi pleaded guilty to securities fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit both, admitting to misappropriating at least $3.95 million from investors in a Ponzi-like scheme. He used some of these funds to settle personal litigation and manipulated account activities to conceal the fraud. Consequently, he was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison and barred from the securities industry by the SEC.
Following his incarceration, Varacchi founded the Federal Prison Consultancy, aiming to guide individuals and their families through the complexities of the federal legal system. Drawing from his personal experience, the consultancy offers support in areas like pre-sentencing preparation, understanding prison regulations, and post-release reintegration.
