Mark Ruelle rejoined Westar Energy in 2003 as executive vice president and chief financial officer. In August 2011, Mark became president and CEO. He also serves on the Board of Directors. He served as president, Nevada Power Company, from 2001 to 2002, and senior vice president and chief financial officer from 1997 to 2001. From 1986 - 1997 during
his previous tenure at Westar Energy, he held various financial, strategic planning and corporate development positions. He received both a bachelor of arts degree in economics and a master of arts degree in economics from the University of North Dakota. He is on the board of directors for the Edison Electric Institute, GO Topeka and Stormont-Vail Foundation.
