Mr. Kaplan became CEO of The Alpha Loft in March 2013. He has nearly thirty years of executive, financial, venture capital, and investment industry experience. During the past 15 years, Mark worked in entrepreneurial endeavors, including as a venture capitalist with Maine based CEI Ventures. He was actively engaged in building Maine’s
entrepreneurial ecosystem as a board member of the Maine Center for Entrepreneurial Development (MCED) and the Small Enterprise Growth Fund (SEGF), which is the state of Maine’s venture fund. He served two terms as SEGF Chair of the board, and worked closely with entrepreneurs as an investor and as a MCED Top Gun acceleration program mentor. Mark has served on the boards of numerous private companies and non-profit organizations. He remains a board member of the SEGF and the MCED, a Portland based incubator, and also serves on its Top Gun Advisory Board. Mark earned his MBA from Boston University Graduate School of Management and BA from the University of Michigan-Flint. He is a graduate of the NVCA-NASBIC Venture Capital Institute Certificate and Graduate Programs. He was awarded the Charter Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1986.
