Dr. Bennett has served as the Senior Vice President of Research at Calithera Biosciences since the company’s founding in June 2010. Prior to joining Calithera, Dr. Bennett was at Proteolix in South San Francisco, CA from 2003 to 2009, serving as the Vice President of Research from 2006 to 2009 and as Director of Biological Research, from the
company’s founding in 2003 through 2005. Prior to joining Proteolix, Dr. Bennett was Director of Cell Biology at Rigel Pharmaceuticals in South San Francisco, CA from 1999 to 2003. From 1993 through 1999, Dr. Bennett was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Bennett received a B.S. degree in Biochemistry and Biophysics from Oregon State University, a Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience from the California Institute of Technology, and completed postdoctoral fellowships at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory and Stanford University.
