Mr. Mark E. Sanders is the Chief Technology Officer at John A. Levin & Co. He has been Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of the Corporate Information Department at New York Life Insurance Company., since September 2006. He serves as a Technical Advisor to Chess Ventures LLC. Mr. Sanders is responsible for New York Life's
information technology vision, strategy and planning, overseeing the enterprise architecture and engineering division in the Corporate Information Department. Mr. Sanders joined New York Life from BKF Asset Management, where he served as Chief Technology Officer. In addition, he spent seven years as a Senior Director and Chief Technologist for Merrill Lynch and Company based in New York in charge of the technology products and services that reached the end-users in Fixed Income, Equities, Investment Banking, Middle Markets and Retail banking, this included Merrill Lynch Online, internal web and client server-based applications, database design and development, systems integration, QA, Internet services and disaster recovery. Mr. Sanders also spent four years as Chief Network Architect at Salomon Brothers where he directed the planning, implementation and operations of the firm’s global Internet network and before that developed Sun Microsystems’ network services business reporting to the Executive Committee. He also served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BevAccess. Mr. Sanders served as a Senior Director for Merrill Lynch, and held leadership positions at Salomon Brothers Inc., J.P. Morgan, Sun Microsystems, and Grumman Aerospace. He serves as the President of the Wall Street Technology Association (WSTA), and a Member of both the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Society of Information Management (SIMNY). Mr. Sanders is past Chairman of the Securities Industry Associations (SIA) Technology Management Committee, and served on the Committee & Securities Industry Root Certificate Authority (SIRCA). He attended the MIT Sloan School of Management’s CISR Summer Session for Management. Mr. Sanders holds an M.B.A. from Dowling College, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from South Western University, as well as graduated from The United States Navy’s Engineering Training and Submarine Warfare School.
